We can safely say that the year 2020 is one we will never forget — for lots of crazy reasons. One of the more positive reasons is the collection of unique and beautiful independent hotels that joined the program this year. Here is a list of all the hotels we added over the last 12 months.

Hotel Gibbs
San Antonio, Texas
What we love about it: Built in 1909 as San Antonio’s first high rise office building and steps away from the Alamo and San Antonio’s famous River Walk.

Inn at Pine Terrace
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin
What we love about it: The original owners modeled the home after a French castle near Vienna. They named their masterpiece “Mon Bijou” or “My Jewel.”

Lodge at Nakoma
Clio, California
What we love about it: The building is a masterpiece. The Clubhouse was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and the rest of this serene retreat is inspired by his legacy.

Waldo Emerson Inn
Kennebunk, Maine
What we love about it: Built in 1753, this romantic Kennebunkport, Maine bed and breakfast is one of the most historic places to stay in Southern Maine.

Hawthorne Hotel
Salem, Massachusetts
What we love about it: Since 1925, the historic Hawthorne Hotel has been a jewel in the heart of downtown Salem. This icon has hosted over 1 million guests, and its Grand Ballroom has been the site of countless celebrations.

Higgins Beach Inn
Scarborough, Maine
What we love about it: Each inviting guestroom emanates the charm of a relaxing beach hotel, but you can also expect the impressive amenities and contemporary comforts that all modern travelers seek while vacationing along Maine’s beautiful coast.

The Emerson Inn
Rockport, Massachusetts
What we love about it: The seasonal Emerson Inn by the Sea offers historic oceanfront charm and a convenient location, plus a relaxing, natural setting. And don’t miss the beautiful ocean view pool.

The Hotel Concord
Concord, New Hampshire
What we love about it: With ample amenities and little luxuries, it’s no wonder this elegant hotel, just steps from the gold-domed State House, earned a AAA Four Diamond Award.

CityFlatsHotel
Grand Rapids, Michigan
What we love about it: While the building was originally built in 1874 and was once home to the famous Fox’s Jewelry, CityFlatsHotel has been renovated and is now Grand Rapids’ only LEED Gold certified hotel.

Ranguana Caye
Ranguana Caye, Belize
What we love about it: Located off the coast of Placencia and right off the Belize Barrier Reef, Ranguana Caye is the 2-acre private island destination of your dreams. If you’re lucky, spend your evenings seeing baby sea turtles hatch and make their way to the sea for the first time.

Copal Tree Lodge
Punta Gorda, Belize
What we love about it: Copal Tree Lodge is a jungle lodge, organic farm, organic distillery, and 12,000-acre nature reserve. In short, it’s Belize’s unrivaled agritourism destination.

Sweet Songs Jungle Lodge
San Ignacio, Belize
What we love about it: Many rooms have air conditioning, but most guests prefer to sleep with fresh air: you’ll be lulled to sleep by a cacophony of tropical sounds and wake up to the calls of Chachalacas and Yellow-headed Parrots, underpinned by the cooing of White-tipped Doves.

Brisa Oceano Resort
Placencia, Belize
What we love about it: From your exquisitely furnished suite, you can walk barefoot right onto the pristine Maya Beach that stretches over 15 miles along the peninsula.

The Placencia Resort
Placencia, Belize
What we love about it: The Placencia’s luxurious on-site pool is one of the largest in the country, with plenty of space for laps or lounging. When you’re ready to explore the surrounding waters, the resort offers complimentary kayak and paddle boards.

Wicker Park Inn
Chicago, Illinois
What we love about it: Set in an 1890s row house, the Wicker Park Inn offers nine luxurious guest rooms or for those needing a bit more space, the inn also offers apartments with fully equipped kitchens.

The Horton Hotel
Boone, North Carolina
What we love about it: With 15 unique guest rooms, a cocktail lounge and the only outdoor rooftop bar in Boone, The Horton Hotel is a local gem–housed in a building that has formerly been a Studebaker car garage and a Spainhour’s department store.

The Hotel Y
Yakima, Washington
What we love about it: A welcoming boutique hotel located in a prime spot within half a mile of Yakima River Valley, within 2 miles of Capitol Theater and within 3 miles of Yakima Convention Center and Yakima Valley Trolleys.

Napili Surf Beach Resort
Maui, Hawaii
What we love about it: The vibe is unpretentious, welcoming and family-friendly. A weekly evening mixer and a weekly island-style morning social will make your stay feel extra luxurious and memorable.

The Inn at Saratoga
Saratoga Springs, New York
What we love about it: Rooms have been individually decorated with real antique furnishings and handcrafted mahogany furniture — giving each room its own unique character and charm.

The Blake Taos
Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico
What we love about it: The Blake is an 80-room alpine guesthouse adjacent to Lift 1 that’s designed to deliver mountainside adventures, whether you’re skiing, hiking, shopping or strolling.

The Blackwell
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
What we love about it: The Blackwell Hotel began its life when a hardworking businessman built the mansion as a wedding gift for his son and daughter-in-law.

The FINCH
Walla Walla, Washington
What we love about it: This hotel was built with a focus on what’s outside its walls rather than within. Yet every aspect of The FINCH — from the knowledgeable guides on staff to the artwork inspired by local lore — is a celebration to the city that surrounds it.
